Burnley have reached an agreement with the Peruvian Football Federation for right-back Oliver Sonne to leave international duty early and return to England. The 25-year-old was ruled out of Peru's friendly against Colombia in Miami following a medical assessment. Following discussions between both parties, Sonne was released to continue his recovery under the direct supervision of Burnley's medical staff.
The specific nature and severity of Sonne's injury have not been disclosed, leaving it unclear if he will miss club matches. In his absence, Peru manager Mano Menezes is expected to start Marco Huamán at right-back. Burnley's medical department will conduct their own evaluations once the defender arrives back in England.
