Derek Chisora has called for Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua to contest the historic 117-year-old British heavyweight title instead of a world title. The long-awaited bout between the two British fighters is scheduled to take place on Friday, December 11, at Principality Stadium in Cardiff. Chisora argued that the traditional Lord Lonsdale belt holds greater significance than splintered sanctioning body belts.
Speaking at an IBA conference, Chisora claimed the fight should ignore the vacant WBA "Super" title sanction. Richard Riakpohre is the current British heavyweight champion, though Fury, Joshua, and Chisora have all previously held the belt. Chisora also predicted that Joshua will knock Fury out in their single-bout contest, which notably features no rematch clause.
