The Story in 60 Seconds

The Philadelphia Eagles signed rookie center James Brockermeyer to their practice squad shortly after veteran right tackle Lane Johnson announced his NFL retirement. Johnson ended his 14-season career with Philadelphia as a two-time Super Bowl champion, six-time Pro Bowler, and five-time All-Pro, creating an immediate need for offensive line depth.

Brockermeyer went undrafted out of Miami before spending training camp with the Atlanta Falcons, who released him in late September. With the Eagles set to travel to London to face the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 5, Markel Bell is expected to step in at right tackle.
