NBA fans were devastated after Philadelphia 76ers big man Ariel Hukporti suffered a brutal season-ending Achilles injury.

Philadelphia 76ers center Ariel Hukporti has suffered a season-ending ruptured right Achilles tendon, according to ESPN's Shams Charania. The injury occurred during Philadelphia's preseason opener against the New York Knicks on Monday, leaving fans devastated over the major setback ahead of the regular season.
Hukporti, who joined the 76ers on a one-year, $3.4 million contract after winning a championship with the Knicks, will undergo surgery to repair the tear. ESPN's Bobby Marks reported the 76ers could receive a $1.7 million Disabled Player Exception, though their proximity to the first apron restricts direct signings.
