The big man signed with the 76ers in the offseason to a one-year, $3.4 million contract after playing on the Knicks' championship-winning 2025-26 team.

Philadelphia 76ers center Ariel Hukporti will miss the remainder of the season after suffering a torn right Achilles tendon on Monday night. The 24-year-old sustained the injury in the first quarter of Philadelphia's preseason opener against the New York Knicks at Xfinity Mobile Arena. An MRI confirmed the tear on Tuesday, and the team announced he will undergo surgery.
Hukporti signed a one-year, $3.4 million contract with Philadelphia this offseason after previously playing for the Knicks. Former teammates Karl-Anthony Towns and Jalen Brunson offered support following the injury, with Towns helping him off the court. ESPN reported that the 76ers are eligible to apply for a $1.7 million disabled player exception to assist with roster adjustments.
