The Islanders were without Alexander Romanov for the final 12:04 of a 5-2 loss to the Rangers after the defenseman exited with an apparent injury.

New York Islanders defenseman Alexander Romanov left the ice with an apparent injury during the final 12:04 of a 5-2 loss to the New York Rangers on Tuesday. Head coach Pete DeBoer stated after the game that Romanov was still being evaluated and did not offer a further update on his condition.
Romanov's injury raises concerns following a shoulder surgery that limited him to 15 games last season. If he is sidelined ahead of Thursday's game against the Chicago Blackhawks, the Islanders could consider calling up defensemen Isaiah George or Kashawn Aitcheson.
