Utah Mammoth defenseman Mikhail Sergachev suffered an upper-body injury during the second period of Tuesday's win against the New Jersey Devils. The injury occurred when a zone-clear attempt by teammate MacKenzie Weegar struck him in the back of the head. Although Sergachev was slow to get up, he skated off the ice to the team bench.
Before his departure, Sergachev recorded three assists and was named the game's first star. If Sergachev is sidelined, the Mammoth may rely on defensemen Nate Schmidt, MacKenzie Weegar, and John Marino to absorb additional ice time and offensive responsibilities.
