Utah Mammoth defenseman Mikhail Sergachev exited Tuesday's 5-3 victory over the New Jersey Devils after suffering an upper-body injury. The incident occurred when a clearing attempt by teammate MacKenzie Weegar hit Sergachev in the side of the head, sending him directly to the dressing room.
The team confirmed that Sergachev would not return to the contest. The 28-year-old blueliner entered Tuesday with three points across his first three games of the season, leading Utah in ice time. The Mammoth will continue their five-game road trip against the Boston Bruins on Thursday.
