The Arizona Diamondbacks will not bring back pitching coach Brian Kaplan for the 2027 season, according to MLB.com's Steve Gilbert. Kaplan's contract expired after two years with the franchise, ending a stint that began prior to the 2025 campaign when he took over the role from previous pitching coach Brent Strom.

Under Kaplan, Arizona's pitching staff improved from a 4.49 ERA in 2025 to a 4.18 ERA in 2026, while the club posted an 86-76 record. Manager Torey Lovullo, who recently signed a two-year extension, indicated further coaching staff decisions will be determined soon.
