The Arizona Diamondbacks will not retain pitching coach Brian Kaplan following the expiration of his two-year contract, according to Steve Gilbert of MLB.com. Kaplan, who previously served as an assistant pitching coach with the Philadelphia Phillies, had been hired ahead of the 2025 season to replace Brent Strom.
During Kaplan's two-year tenure, the Diamondbacks ranked 22nd in ERA and struggled to generate strikeouts. The pitching staff dealt with significant injuries to Corbin Burnes, A.J. Puk, and Justin Martinez, alongside career-worst seasons from Merrill Kelly and Zac Gallen, though Eduardo Rodriguez and Brandon Pfaadt posted solid campaigns.
