Bologna closing in on final decision on free agent Darmian

Bologna is close to finalizing the signing of veteran defender Matteo Darmian following a successful one-week trial. According to reports in Italy, the Rossoblu are expected to formally complete the free transfer on Thursday, offering the 36-year-old former Inter and Torino player an initial contract through the end of the 2026-27 season with an option for an additional year.

Darmian became a free agent on June 30 after winning nine trophies during his stint with Inter. Bologna moved to assess his fitness and sign him after right-back Emil Holm suffered a serious injury on international duty with Sweden, requiring surgery that will sideline him for four to six months.
