The New Jersey Devils suffered a 5-3 defeat against the Utah Mammoth on Tuesday night at Prudential Center. Utah took an early lead through a power-play goal from Clayton Keller, and despite New Jersey tying the game twice with goals from Luke Evangelista and Jesper Boqvist, the Mammoth pulled away with two power-play conversions to secure their third victory of the season.
Devils head coach Sheldon Keefe experimented with line combinations, earning praise for the fourth-line unit featuring Boqvist, Amadeus Lombardi, and Cody Glass. However, New Jersey struggled on special teams and faced another setback as defenseman Jonas Siegenthaler exited with an injury early in the third period.
