Athletics Pursuing Sam Fuld, Jared Banner For GM Role

The Athletics are considering Phillies executive Sam Fuld and Cubs assistant GM Jared Banner for their general manager vacancy. According to Patrick Mooney and Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, the team is expected to fill the open position this week. Oakland dismissed long-time general manager David Forst in August and has since interviewed multiple external and internal executive candidates.

Fuld, who finished his playing career in Oakland, previously served as the Phillies general manager under Dave Dombrowski before taking on a business operations role. Banner joined the Cubs in 2020 after player development stints with Boston and the Mets, earning a promotion to assistant GM in late 2023.
