McLaren CEO Zak Brown announced that Gianpiero Lambiase could leave Red Bull and join McLaren as soon as 2027. Speaking to Sky Sports, Brown expressed optimism that Max Verstappen's longtime race engineer would arrive in Woking earlier than previously anticipated. McLaren had announced in April that Lambiase agreed to join the team as chief racing officer, with his existing contract previously expected to run through 2028.
Upon his arrival, Lambiase will report directly to McLaren team principal Andrea Stella. Stella currently manages the chief racing officer duties alongside his primary leadership responsibilities. Lambiase has worked for over a decade with four-time world champion Verstappen at Red Bull, and his impending arrival is designed to strengthen McLaren's operational leadership and championship ambitions.
