Tampa Bay Buccaneers safety Antoine Winfield is expected to miss two to four weeks due to a fractured rib, head coach Todd Bowles announced. The injury compounds issues for the winless Buccaneers ahead of their Week 5 matchup against the Dallas Cowboys, with quarterback Baker Mayfield, linebacker SirVocea Dennis, and cornerback Benjamin Morrison already ruled out.
Winfield had registered 24 tackles through the first four games of the season before getting hurt. Six-year veteran Ifeatu Melifonwu, who stepped in during Week 4, is expected to start at safety in Winfield's absence, while general manager Jason Licht may also consider outside free-agent options.
