Franco Colapinto has confirmed he retains the full support of Alpine boss Flavio Briatore despite triggering a late crash at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. Colapinto collided with teammate Pierre Gasly and McLaren driver Lando Norris during a safety car restart in Baku, eliminating both drivers and ending Alpine's chances of a double points finish.
Although Briatore initially expressed anger and hinted at taking disciplinary action, Colapinto denied that a race suspension was ever considered. After immediately undertaking simulator work following the incident, Colapinto retains his race seat for the upcoming round, though he will serve a five-place grid penalty for causing the collision.
