Strong defence, steady goaltending and limiting opponents’ scoring chances should be a strategy that works for the Oilers. It did in a tidy win over the Kraken on Saturday night, writes Mark Spector.

The Edmonton Oilers tightened up defensively to secure a 3-1 victory over the Seattle Kraken on Saturday at Rogers Place. Following a chaotic start to the season, Edmonton held Seattle to just 20 shots, leaning on steady goaltending from Devon Levi. Leon Draisaitl scored the game-winning goal late in the third period after a rebound caromed off Connor McDavid.
Rookie Owen Michaels also scored for Edmonton, netting his second NHL goal on his second career shot. Levi made a crucial glove save against Jordan Eberle in a tied third period, helping Edmonton improve to 2-0-1 on the season under head coach Mike Babcock.
