Jackson Frank argues that Philadelphia 76ers guard VJ Edgecombe is positioned to thrive in a specialized role alongside newly acquired stars LeBron James and Jaylen Brown. Rather than having his development hindered by the star-studded lineup, Frank contends that Edgecombe can boost Philadelphia's title hopes by focusing on point-of-attack perimeter defense, cutting, offensive rebounding, and transition play alongside Tyrese Maxey and Joel Embiid.
Frank points out that Edgecombe logged a 20.6 percent usage rate as a rookie and shot 38.3 percent on catch-and-shoot 3-pointers. In Frank's view, head coach Nick Nurse can deploy an aggressive defensive system that maximizes Edgecombe's speed, deflections, and open-floor athleticism.
