Bleacher Report hit the nail on the head when trying to find the Baltimore Orioles a starter, but they missed the mark on the trade target.

Writer Brian Burrows argues that the Baltimore Orioles should avoid a proposed trade for Atlanta Braves pitcher Spencer Strider suggested by Bleacher Report. The mock proposal would see Baltimore acquire Strider and cash in exchange for outfield prospect Nate George and shortstop prospect Wehiwa Aloy. While Baltimore needs starting rotation help, the writer contends that pursuing the right-hander carries excessive risk.
Burrows points to Strider's recent injury track record, noting he pitched only eight starts in 2026 before being shut down with elbow inflammation. Additionally, Strider's declining fastball velocity and remaining guaranteed contract, which owes him $22 million over each of the next two seasons, make the potential acquisition too financially and physically risky for Baltimore.
