The Story in 60 Seconds

The Montreal Canadiens have recalled goaltender Jacob Fowler from the AHL affiliate Laval Rocket. The decision comes following an apparent practice injury suffered by goaltender Samuel Montembeault on October 7, leaving him questionable to face the Nashville Predators. Head coach Martin St. Louis noted that Montembeault was still undergoing evaluation.

Fowler, 21, rejoins Montreal to form an NHL tandem with rookie Jakub Dobes. Fowler previously recorded a 9-6-2 record in 17 NHL games last season and earned the promotion over veteran Laval teammate Kaapo Kahkonen after stopping 52 of 55 shots during his opening weekend in the AHL.
