Pre-weekend favourite Marco Bezzecchi started the Indonesian MotoGP weekend strongly as he clinched top spot in FP1.

Aprilia rider Marco Bezzecchi topped the opening practice session for the Indonesian MotoGP at Mandalika on October 9, 2026. Bezzecchi led most of FP1 and improved on his final run to secure first place with a lap time of 1:30.132. Marc Marquez finished in second place after a late fast lap, edging ahead of Bezzecchi's Aprilia teammate Jorge Martin in third.

Pedro Acosta and Raul Fernandez rounded out the top five, while VR46 riders Franco Morbidelli and Fabio Di Giannantonio secured sixth and seventh. Francesco Bagnaia placed 13th after being forced into the gravel by Toprak Razgatlioglu, while Fermin Aldeguer, Diogo Moreira, and Ai Ogura all suffered crashes during the session.
