Antonio Conte: Man United make key decision after Italian’s latest comments

Manchester United have decided to continue backing manager Michael Carrick despite placing Antonio Conte on their shortlist, according to Football Insider. Pressure has grown on Carrick following a difficult start to the 2026/27 season, leaving United sitting 12th in the Premier League. Conte recently clarified his desire to return to management immediately, sparking speculation that he could take over at Old Trafford.

Journalist Pete O'Rourke reported that while Conte is a top candidate if United decide to make a managerial change, the club hierarchy intends to give Carrick more time to turn around results. United have won just one of their opening five league matches and suffered an early exit from the EFL Cup against Brighton & Hove Albion.
