A winless opponent and playing at home felt like the perfect mix for the Cowboys to get over the .500 mark.
The Dallas Cowboys fell to a 24-16 home defeat against the previously winless Tampa Bay Buccaneers, dropping their season record to 2-3. Dallas mounted a late drive, but a tipped pass off tight end Jake Ferguson led to a game-sealing interception thrown by Dak Prescott with under 1:30 remaining. Following the loss, Prescott addressed a post-game exchange with a stadium employee who called the defeat embarrassing.
With the result, Dallas set an unwanted franchise record by allowing at least 375 yards in each of their first five games. Buccaneers running back Bucky Irving rushed for 165 yards and a touchdown, while George Pickens tallied nine catches for 130 yards and a score in the loss. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones expressed his disappointment post-game, acknowledging Tampa Bay dominated across key phases.
