A young flyer boasting the most enviable try-scoring record is leading the charge, but he’s just one of the lesser known players to watch at the World Cup.
Townsville Blackhawks winger Dudley Dotoi is set to use the upcoming Rugby League World Cup to push for an NRL opportunity with Papua New Guinea. The 23-year-old has compiled a record of 62 tries in 53 Queensland Cup games, earning consecutive Winger of the Year honours under head coach Terry Campese. With regular Kumuls winger Alex Johnston ruled out through injury, Dotoi is positioned to feature when PNG's tournament begins against Lebanon on October 17.
Campese also endorsed Blackhawks teammate Bailey Biondi-Odo, who is joining the New Zealand Warriors for 2027 following an injury-interrupted stint with the Canterbury Bulldogs. Campese highlighted both players' readiness to follow late-blooming paths into the NRL.
