NEWS: South America’s top rugby-playing countries, led by Argentina, have released a statement saying they have officially submitted all the information required by World Rugby to be considered as a candidate to host Rugby World Cup 2035.

South America’s top rugby nations, spearheaded by Argentina alongside Chile, Uruguay, and Brazil, have officially submitted required documentation to World Rugby to host the 2035 Men's Rugby World Cup. The joint bid marks an effort to bring the tournament to South America for the first time, proposing iconic venues across the continent including Rio de Janeiro's Maracaná, Montevideo's Centenario, Santiago's National Stadium, and several major grounds throughout Argentina.
World Rugby will announce preferred venues in May 2027 before the World Rugby Council decides the host in November 2027. South America faces competition from Spain, Japan, and interest from Italy.
