The Guardians were abnormally active as buyers at the trade deadline this summer. The club didn’t make any big swings, but added three players who’ve played key roles in the postseason.
Details reported by Zack Meisel revealed how the Cleveland Guardians acquired Jo Adell, Foster Griffin, and Nathaniel Lowe ahead of the trade deadline. Cleveland acquired Adell from the Angels for Jacob Cozart, traded a four-player package including Will Dion and Josh Hartle to the Nationals for Griffin, and acquired Lowe from the Reds for Alejandro Rivera.
All three midseason acquisitions have contributed significantly during the postseason despite mixed regular-season results with Cleveland. Adell drove in five runs across two ALDS wins, Griffin delivered a crucial relief appearance striking out seven against the White Sox, and Lowe has reached base eight times in 17 plate appearances.
