Broncos coach Sean Payton said Thursday he is taking over the offensive playcalling beginning Sunday against the Chargers as the team looks to kick-start a sputtering offense.

Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton announced on Thursday that he will take over offensive playcalling duties from offensive coordinator Davis Webb. Payton made the decision following the team's slow 2-2 start, aiming to revitalize an offense that has struggled for rhythm and explosive plays ahead of Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Chargers.
The Broncos currently rank 27th in scoring offense and 29th in plays of 20 or more yards, while quarterback Bo Nix ranks 22nd in QBR. Payton met with Webb and the offensive staff on Monday to discuss the transition, expressing strong confidence in Webb's future as an NFL head coach.
