The Pittsburgh Penguins are 2-2-0 this season. Discover their latest roster news ahead of their game against the Columbus Blue Jackets.

The Pittsburgh Penguins placed 26-year-old defenseman Ilya Solovyov on waivers on Friday ahead of their matchup with the Columbus Blue Jackets. The transaction was reported by Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet. Solovyov made Pittsburgh's Opening Night roster for the 2026-27 season but was a healthy scratch through the team's first four games.
If Solovyov clears waivers unclaimed, he is expected to be assigned to the AHL to receive regular playing time. Across three NHL seasons with Calgary, Colorado, and Pittsburgh, the defenseman has recorded 12 points in 45 career regular-season appearances.
