The Story in 60 Seconds

Liverpool defender Jeremie Frimpong is reportedly open to joining Barcelona ahead of the January transfer window. The Dutch international has struggled for regular playing time at Anfield under manager Andoni Iraola, who has favored Ronald Araujo at right-back. According to Spanish journalist Juan Jesus, Liverpool could be prepared to sanction a permanent transfer for a fee of around £35 million as sporting director Deco keeps track of the player.

Frimpong, who joined Liverpool from Bayer Leverkusen in 2025, has made only two Premier League starts this season. While Barcelona manager Hansi Flick previously targeted Frimpong, the Catalan club is also monitoring Tottenham Hotspur's Pedro Porro as another potential option to strengthen their right-back position.
