Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield remains on track to sit out Sunday’s home game against the Pittsburgh Steelers as he continues to recover from a dislocated right thumb.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield is expected to miss Sunday's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers as he recovers from a dislocated right thumb. Head coach Todd Bowles stated that Mayfield transitioned to a smaller splint, but the team plans to start rookie Jalon Daniels. The team will monitor Mayfield's ability to grip a football during practice before determining his status.
Mayfield suffered the injury on September 27 against the Minnesota Vikings, which ended his streak of 57 consecutive starts. Daniels led Tampa Bay to a 24-16 victory over the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday night, completing 19 of 25 passes for 189 yards and a touchdown. Mayfield remains on the active roster rather than injured reserve.
