The Chicago Bulls ruled forward Matas Buzelis out of their preseason game against the Memphis Grizzlies due to a right ankle sprain. Buzelis tweaked his ankle in the first quarter after blocking a shot by Jaylen Wells. Although he initially returned to play, he exited for good in the second quarter as a precaution after logging 12 minutes and scoring six points.
Bulls head coach Tiago Splitter indicated after the game that Buzelis was sore, and it remains uncertain whether he will travel for Sunday's game against the Denver Nuggets. Buzelis is expected to continue his recovery with the goal of being available for the Bulls' regular-season opener.
