Chicago Blackhawks forward Frank Nazar has received a two-game suspension from the NHL Department of Player Safety for an illegal check to the head of New York Islanders forward Bo Horvat. The incident occurred with approximately 90 seconds remaining in Chicago's 4-1 loss to New York, resulting in an immediate match penalty for Nazar.
The disciplinary ruling will cost Nazar $68,041.14 based on his average annual salary. He will sit out upcoming home contests against the Carolina Hurricanes and Pittsburgh Penguins before returning against the Winnipeg Jets, while the writer argues the hit was largely indefensible.
