Memphis Grizzlies center Isaiah Stewart is sidelined for at least two weeks due to a moderate left ankle sprain. The injury occurred during the first quarter of his preseason debut against the Atlanta Hawks on October 5 while he was contesting a shot at the rim. Stewart will miss the remainder of the preseason and the regular-season opener against the Utah Jazz on October 21.
Stewart was acquired by the Grizzlies from the Detroit Pistons in a draft-day trade, with Memphis absorbing his remaining four-year, $60 million rookie extension. The center averaged 10.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks per contest for Detroit last season and is expected to help mentor third overall draft pick Cam Boozer.
