Lando Norris has felt his McLaren has been hamstrung by a mysterious issue in recent grands prix.

McLaren team principal Andrea Stella stated the team takes responsibility for a straight-line speed deficit affecting Lando Norris's car. Norris expressed concerns across multiple race weekends that his MCL40 was lacking top-end speed compared to teammate Oscar Piastri. Stella confirmed the issue accounts for a lap time loss of between one and two tenths of a second.
Stella explained the deficit equates to a speed difference of one to two kph in power-limited sections. While the root cause remains under investigation across chassis drag and power unit parameters, McLaren aims to implement potential fixes for the upcoming race in Singapore.
