The Milwaukee Bucks' now-starting small forward needs to be better if he wants to stay in town.

Franco Luna writes that Jaime Jaquez Jr. has struggled during his rookie-scale contract extension audition with the Milwaukee Bucks. The forward shot a combined 6-of-19 from the floor across his first two preseason appearances against the Minnesota Timberwolves and Oklahoma City Thunder, posting negative plus-minus ratings in both contests.
Luna argues that Jaquez's sluggish start complicates Milwaukee's financial decisions ahead of the October 19 extension deadline. The writer notes that unless Jaquez quickly improves his on-court impact, the front office is likely to let the deadline pass without offering a lucrative long-term deal.
