Mercedes has revealed its action plan for the Singapore Grand Prix to better understand whether its F1 upgrade worked.

Mercedes will run a split car setup at the Singapore Grand Prix to conduct back-to-back testing between its old and new aerodynamic packages. Team boss Toto Wolff explained that the team needs more evidence to understand whether recent upgrades to the W17 worked after an underwhelming showing following their debut.
Additionally, Mercedes confirmed that George Russell will take an engine penalty and start from the back of the grid in Singapore. Russell suffered a power unit failure late in the previous race, which forced a replacement that exceeds his season allocation.
