Allegri: ‘De Bruyne doesn’t like new role, what I told Hojlund’ in penalty farce

Napoli manager Massimiliano Allegri discussed Kevin De Bruyne's deeper midfield position and a penalty mix-up involving Rasmus Hojlund after a 3-0 Serie A victory over Frosinone. De Bruyne scored twice, including a retaken penalty that Allegri insisted he take after Hojlund's initial missed effort was nullified due to encroachment. Lang also scored following up on a Giovanni Di Lorenzo attempt.

Allegri explained that while De Bruyne prefers an advanced role, playing deeper in a 3-4-3 midfield pairing could extend his playing career. The tactical adjustment and victory moved Napoli level with Frosinone on 10 points in the Serie A standings ahead of their Champions League fixture against Villarreal.
