Zack Bolduc scored the lone shootout goal to lead the host Montreal Canadiens to a 1-0 victory over the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday. Goaltender Jacob Fowler stopped 30 shots through regulation and overtime, as well as every shootout attempt, helping Montreal snap a three-game losing skid.
Detroit goaltender Daniil Tarasov matched Fowler by also making 30 saves through 65 scoreless minutes. Montreal had two goals disallowed and an overtime tally by Alexandre Texier overturned on an offside review, while defenseman Kaiden Guhle made his season debut following summer surgery.
