The Chicago Blackhawks unsurprising had a tough outing against the defending champion Carolina Hurricanes.

The Chicago Blackhawks opened their seven-game homestand with a 5-2 defeat against the defending Stanley Cup champion Carolina Hurricanes. Mark Jankowski opened the scoring for Carolina late in the first period before Sebastian Aho added a shorthanded goal in the second. Jackson Blake, Taylor Hall, and Jordan Martinook also scored for the Hurricanes, securing a dominant road victory.
Roman Kantserov scored his first career NHL goal for Chicago, and Oliver Moore added a third-period tally. The Blackhawks played without key forwards Connor Bedard and the suspended Frank Nazar, with Spencer Knight starting in net. Despite the loss, head coach Jeff Blashill expressed full confidence that his rebuilding squad will eventually learn how to win.
