The Vegas Golden Knights defeated the Los Angeles Kings 2-1 in overtime in a low-scoring game celebrating the ninth anniversary of Vegas's inaugural season. After killing off a crucial 5-on-3 penalty in the first period, the Golden Knights gained momentum and went on to outshoot the Kings 27-19 throughout the matchup.
Goaltender Carter Hart earned third star honors by stopping 26 of 27 shots to anchor the victory for Vegas. Rookie forward Trevor Connelly capitalized on his role on the top power-play unit, converting a goal that drew praise from teammate Mitch Marner and head coach Ryan Craig.
