New York Mets rumors name Phillies free agent as a match. As icky as it initially looks, it makes some sense.

MLB.com's Mark Feinsand identified Philadelphia Phillies free agent Alec Bohm as a potential fit for the New York Mets. Rising Apple's Tim Boyle analyzes the rumor, noting that while Bohm primarily profiles as a first baseman with defensive limitations, his career .853 OPS against left-handed pitching could theoretically fill a platoon role for the Mets.
However, Boyle argues that signing Bohm as a free agent likely makes little practical sense for New York due to financial and roster constraints. Citing Feinsand's contract comparison of a $15 million annual average value, Boyle suggests the price is too high for a part-time platoon player when everyday starting opportunities are unavailable in Queens.
