The New York Rangers have been dealt a huge blow, with goaltender Igor Shesterkin being ruled out for the remainder of the 2026-27 season with a lower-body injury.

New York Rangers starting goaltender Igor Shesterkin has been ruled out for the remainder of the 2026-27 season due to a lower-body injury. The 30-year-old suffered the injury after an awkward slide in his crease during the second period of a 3-1 loss to the Washington Capitals on October 9.
Shesterkin started the campaign with a 3-1 record, a .927 save percentage, and a 1.79 goals-against average. With backup goaltender Joonas Korpisalo also sidelined week to week on injured reserve, 24-year-old Dylan Garand is set to serve as the team's primary starting goaltender.
