Boston Red Sox third baseman Caleb Durbin underwent successful surgery to repair his left pinkie finger, the team announced on Sunday. The procedure, a proximal interphalangeal joint reconstruction, took place in Wellesley, Massachusetts, following months of the infielder playing through the injury.
Durbin initially suffered a partial dislocation on June 24 during a headfirst slide against the Colorado Rockies but avoided the injured list. Acquired from the Brewers in February, the 26-year-old batted .248 with 13 home runs and 64 RBIs while finishing among the league's top defensive third basemen.
