Jules Bianchi suffered a fatal crash at the Japanese GP on 5 October 2014

Philippe Bianchi has shared an emotional social media tribute to his late son, Jules Bianchi, marking the 12th anniversary of his fatal 2014 Formula 1 crash at Suzuka. Jules Bianchi lost control of his Marussia in wet conditions during the Japanese Grand Prix on October 5, 2014, colliding with a recovery vehicle attending to Adrian Sutil's car. Bianchi suffered severe head injuries and died in July 2015, becoming F1's first driver fatality since Ayrton Senna in 1994.
In his tribute, Philippe Bianchi wrote that the family misses him deeply and continues working daily to preserve his memory. The tragic crash prompted major safety developments across Formula 1, including the introduction of the virtual safety car and the mandatory halo cockpit protection device in 2018.
