The Toronto Blue Jays’ disappointing 2026 season, which ended without a playoff berth after their appearance in the 2025 World Series, has naturally sparked fresh conversations about roster construction heading into the offseason.
Despite offseason speculation regarding an Alejandro Kirk trade following a missed postseason in 2026, the Toronto Blue Jays are reportedly unlikely to move the All-Star catcher. The chatter gained attention after a discussion involving beat writer Mitch Bannon and former Blue Jays Kevin Pillar and Ricky Romero, though Bannon later clarified that all three agreed Toronto should retain Kirk.
Kirk remains under contract through 2030 on a five-year, $58 million extension signed in March 2025. With $49.3 million owed across the next four seasons and skill sets matching the front office's preferences, the organization reportedly views him as a long-term cornerstone rather than an expendable asset.
