Brendan Allen battled a staph infection during fight week ahead of his Ultimate Fighting Championship main event bout this past Saturday at UFC Vegas 122, where he submitted Christian Leroy Duncan.
Brendan Allen competed with a staph infection during his main-event victory over Christian Leroy Duncan at UFC Vegas 122 on October 10. According to his teammate, former welterweight champion Belal Muhammad, Allen developed the illness on Tuesday of fight week and required a course of antibiotics before stepping into the cage at the Meta Apex in Las Vegas.
Despite the medical adversity, Allen secured a fifth-round rear-naked choke submission to earn his fourth consecutive victory and a Performance of the Night bonus. Muhammad revealed that Allen still had five days remaining on his antibiotics course, after which Allen called out former champion Dricus du Plessis.
