All-rounder says Plan B was to be defensive against the India opener; believes visitors let a chaseable target slip

West Indies all-rounder Shamar Springer admitted his team had few answers to Abhishek Sharma's aggressive batting during the third T20I at Holkar Stadium on October 11, 2026. Springer explained that the visitors' secondary plan was simply to bowl defensively and limit the India opener to singles and twos. Sharma struck 69 off 30 balls, helping India post 223 runs and complete a 14-run victory.
West Indies finished their chase on 209/7 despite Springer scoring an unbeaten 35 off 11 balls late in the innings. Springer stated that the target of 224 was achievable but cited the lack of expected dew and effective bowling by India as key obstacles. He also praised teammate Roston Chase for providing control and serving as an underrated contributor for the West Indies throughout the series.
