Tilak Varma quietly slips into beast mode when he has a tricky chase to finish in T20Is. What Virat Kohli did against Pakistan in the T20 World Cup in Melbourne in 2022 is firmly embedded in the format’s folklore.
Tilak Varma guided India to a thrilling four-wicket victory over New Zealand in Christchurch, chasing down a target of 181 with one ball to spare. Coming in at 69/4, Varma scored an unbeaten 51 off 26 balls to secure India a 2-0 lead in the five-match T20I series.
Varma shared an unbroken seventh-wicket partnership of 69 off 30 deliveries with Nitish Kumar Reddy, who contributed 26 not out. New Zealand had posted 180/5 led by Glenn Phillips' 70, while Mitchell Santner claimed 4/21 before India mounted their late comeback.
