Cam Ward’s poor throws aren’t making life easy for Carnell Tate. But two deep-ball opportunities against Houston showed where the Titans’ No. 4 pick can grow into part of the solution.

Austin Stanley argues that Tennessee Titans rookie wide receiver Carnell Tate must become part of the offensive solution to aid struggling quarterback Cam Ward. Following a 26-3 loss to the Houston Texans that dropped Tennessee to 0-5, Stanley writes that Tate missed critical contested deep-ball opportunities that could have produced either explosive catches or pass-interference penalties.
The Houston game followed Tate's breakout Week 4 performance against the Baltimore Ravens, where he caught nine passes for 145 yards. Despite the rookie's recent struggles to finish contested catches on underthrown passes, Stanley maintains high confidence in the fourth overall draft pick's long-term potential in the NFL.
