The Story in 60 Seconds

Glamorgan are searching for a fourth head coach in five years following Richard Dawson's departure to become the assistant coach of the England Test team. Dawson, who joined Glamorgan in December 2024, successfully guided the Welsh county to promotion from Division Two and secured a sixth-place finish in Division One this year. Director of cricket Mark Wallace and chief executive Dan Cherry thanked Dawson for his leadership and acknowledged the high-profile opportunity.

Dawson originally replaced Grant Bradburn following Bradburn's dismissal in 2024, after previous stints led by Matthew Maynard and Mark Alleyne. The 46-year-old previously served as Gloucestershire head coach and worked in England's elite performance pathway. Glamorgan now aim to appoint a new head coach ahead of the New Year before primary preparations begin.
